the Belgian Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) dedicated his recently deceased brother the success in Nokere Koerse 4th editiondisputed between Deinze and Nokere, with a distance of 129.1 km.
Kopecky (Rumst, 27 years old) overcame the tragedy the family suffered last weekend, when his brother Seppe died suddenly at the age of 29, and wanted to participate in the Danilith Nokere Koerse, a trial in which he second last season.
This time he prevailed strongly, thanks to a getaway 70 kilometers from the goal shared with the British Anna Henderson (Jumbo-Visma). The SD Worx cyclist was able to launch an attack with 12 km to go which allowed him to win the event and pay tribute to his brother.
“There’s no point in keeping your head down and staying at home. I wanted to run and that’s what I did. I feel mixed emotions. It has not been an easy day, but you always have to move forward”, said the winner.
