Tiafoe made it to his first Masters 1,000 tournament semifinals

The American Frances Tiafoe25 years old and world number 16, has reached his first semifinals of a tournament Masters 1,000 after defeating the British Cameron Norrie (12th) in Indian Wells (USA) for the double 6-4 after 1h.39′ of play. Norrie won this contest in 2021.

Tiafoe will face the winner of the match in between Daniel Medvedev (6th) and Spanish Alexander Davidovich (28th), who will try to give the bell and end the streak of 17 consecutive victories of the Russian tennis player, this year’s champion in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.

Tiafoe is in charge of breaking Norrie’s happy streak, winning his last eight games counting his recent title in Rio de Janeiro ATPwhose last he defeated a Carlos Alcaraz conditioned by physical discomfort.

Frances continued her clean sweep at Indian Wells, where she reached the semifinals without dropping a set in her four matches against Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-2), Jason Kubler (6-3, 6-2), Alejandro Tabilo (6-4, 6-4) and Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-4).

Tiafoe already showed his danger last year when he reached his first semifinals in grand slam within US Open and forced the Spaniard to play a fifth set Carlos Alcarazeventually champion and No. 1 youngest in history at age 19.

The North American player has the title, at Delray Beach’2018and lost his four other ATP finals.
