Emma Raducanu, winner of the US Open in 2021, broke up with her coach Torben Beltz, after five months professional relationships, and will find his fourth coach in a year.
The 19-year-old tennis player began working with Beltz in November, but Raducanu’s results did not coincide with his success at the US Open. The British, now in 2022, has reached the second round in Australia and Miami and in the quarterfinals in Stuttgart, this is the first time he has won two consecutive games since the Cluj tournament in October 2021.
“I want to thank Torben for his help, professionalism and dedication over the last half year. he has a big heart and I enjoyed the chemistry we had at the moment. I think the best direction for my development is to move to a new training model, ”Raducanu said.
The British will play from Thursday in Madrid with the help of Iain Batesof the British Tennis Association (LTA, for its acronym in English).
The carousel of coach changes began after Wimbledon 2021, where Raducanu reached the round of 16. Nigel Sears was replaced by Andrew Richardson, with whom he was successful in New York. However, Richardson’s contract was not renewed shortly after winning the American Grand Slam and, after hours of considering what to do next, Raducanu signed Beltz, who worked with Angelique Kerber on German era.
