AFE wants women’s football in Quiniela

Date:

This weekend the women’s competition is again not among the combinations. The union has been demanding their presence since 2019. This is another source of income for the clubs

In a week where the First Division suffered a break due to the commitments of various national teams, AFE once again claimed the permanent presence of professional women’s league matches in Quiniela.

This week it is clear again, with the absence of First Division matches. In next weekend’s ticket, various qualifying matches for Euro 2024 will appear on the ticket, such as Croatia – Wales, England – Ukraine, Luxembourg – Portugal, Malta – Italy and Spain – Norway. For the AFE it shows “a complete lack of commitment to the demand of the AFE to implement equality in football and in society in general”

AFE recalls that in August 2019 it led the campaign to integrate women’s football in Quiniela, which saw a positive response from various political forces, but in the end, as the union recalls in its letter, “it did not found the support of the current Government, in an incomprehensible decision that we have denounced before.”

The Culture Commission approved its inclusion in 2020

The Culture and Sports Commission of the Congress of Deputies unanimously approved in October 2020 the inclusion of women’s league matches in La Quiniela, but after a few months, the government’s response, according to the union, to a question formed in the letter of the Popular group Parliament was surprisingly negative.

“At the moment there is no specified forecast, neither in time nor in what defines the format, of the way in which this may materialize in the future.”

AFE remembers that almost two years have passed since then and does not want this request, which is important for many reasons, to fall into oblivion. Starting at the beginning because it will give more visibility to the competition and the soccer players, which will result in the benefit of all parties.

In addition, as argued by the union, “it will be a source of income that both clubs and footballers need for the development of a competition that has grown significantly in recent years, but continues to require more support for its full integration.”

From the AFE they will continue to work so that the matches of the women’s professional league are part of the ticket of La Quiniela every week: “We still do not understand, because there is no sense, that the international matches will appear this week , but not League corresponds to the Female Professional, something that as representatives of the collective of soccer players we want to denounce in order to establish the true FITNESS in today’s society”.
