The Council of the City of Valencia, the Provincial Council of Valencia and the Department of Tourism of the Community of Valencia have closed the collaboration protocol with International Tennis Federation (ITF) to meet in the year 2026 the Davis Cup.
The signing of this agreement constitutes the cooperation of the three public administrations and the ITF to work together in the development of the Davis Cup in future editions. Valencia will assume the celebration of this event until 2026 as the venue for the group stage, although the possibility of hosting the final stage in 2024, 2025 and 2026 is under consideration.
The Councilor for Sports, Javier Mateo, reported that “this agreement guarantees more legal certainty and shows Valencia’s commitment to hosting events of international projection that leaves a legacy in the city”.
“The approval of this agreement is undoubtedly great news, because Valencia, in collaboration with the Diputación and the Generalitat, through Turismo Comunidad Valenciana, ensures the celebration of the Davis Cup in the city for the next few years . In addition, it leaves the door open to host a Davis Cup final in the future if all factors are compatible and the interests of both parties coincide”, added the mayor.
Last year’s Davis Cup had an economic impact in Valencia of nine million euros, with more than 1,700 overnight hotel stays in the city. This means an impact of more than 10 million euros on the Valencian economy.
In addition, we must add the total audience of 280 million viewers worldwide, and the development of activities to promote grassroots sports among children and youth in the city, which means the projection of the Valencia brand worldwide.
