River ‘sign’ Messi

Date:

River Plate ‘signed’ Leo Messi on a night that once again sent Argentina fans into a frenzy and how Scaloni’s side were declared world champions in December.

River Plate acted as host at the Monumental stadium to welcome the team led by Leo Messi, the first game in which Scaloni’s men faced a fan in ‘green’ after touching the sky in Qatar. And River fans went crazy online when they saw the best player in the world, a euphoric Messi, wearing a Millionaires shirt. It was a gift from the River board of directors, a brand new shirt with the number ’10’ on the back on the day Messi walked away again by scoring his 800th career goal, so made it 2-0 in the friendly against Panama.

The Argentine star was photographed proud and ecstatic after the party, shirt in hand, alongside ‘Muñeco’ Gallardo, River’s former coach, who hasn’t set foot in the Monumental since his last game as Millionaires coach ( on October 16 , last year, when ‘Millo’ fell to Carlos Tévez’s Rosario Central).

Messi wasn’t the only one who received a nice gift from River. Coach Lionel Scaloni was also honored with a River shirt and the number ’18’ on his back. The party is complete with a Monumental ‘fell’ to once again pay tribute to the world champion from the Albiceleste.
