Slovenian Tadej Pogacar will lead the UAE Emirates in the Tour of Flanders which will be held next Sunday, but will not start this Wednesday with the Belgian classic Through Flanders.
After third place at the E3 Saxo Classic, Pogacar will pursue the monumental Tour of Flanders with an experienced team Completed by local idol Tim Wellens, Matteo Trentin, Sjoerd Bax, Mikkel Bjerg, Rui Oliveira and Vegard Laengen.
“Last week at E3 we had a great race and had a good battle between rivals.now I really want to do it again on Sunday”, said Pogacar.
After its premiere in Flanders last season, the double winner of the Tour has a special motivation.
“My first experience in Flanders last year was something I will never forget., the energy of the race and the passion for cycling in Belgium is something special. I feel that I am ready and the team is ready, so we’ll give it our best,” he said.
For this Wednesday’s Across Flanders event, the UAE will start with Sjoerd Bax, Mikkel Bjerg, Ryan Gibbons, Pascal Ackermann, Vegard Laengen, Matteo Trentin and Tim Wellens.
