The recent onset of winter in Tyrol caused slippery roads and, accordingly, several accidents – including Tuesday morning in Steinach am Brenner in the Innsbruck-Land district: a 37-year-old resident ran off the road with his car and fell 15 meters over the embankment , and the car rolled over twice.
The accident happened around 6:30 am in the Mauern district. The 37-year-old was driving his car on a municipal road when it suddenly skidded on the snowy road. “The car then went off the track. The car fell 15 meters over the dike and flipped over twice before coming to a stop on its wheels in a field,” the police said.
A witness to the accident raised the alarm
A witness immediately started the rescue chain. The 37-year-old driver suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to the clinic in Innsbruck after first aid. His passenger (42) escaped with a fright and was unharmed. The car is a total loss, police said.
In addition to the rescue and emergency doctor, the volunteer fire brigade Steinach am Brenner with 15 members and two police patrols was also present.
