These are confidentiality agreements where crackers, who pay large sums of money, try to make sure that no one knows what happened there.
The aforementioned English outlet specifically talks about a recent case where the player, a former England international, silenced his girlfriend by making her sign this kind of controversial ‘gag order’. He is said to have “intimidated” this single mother into signing an NDA by paying her £20,000 (about €23,000) and a further £500 for a lawyer, who sent her several warnings.
The woman claims the star became “aggressive” when she initially refused to cooperate, telling her: “I know where you live.” Teresa Parker, Head of Communications for Women’s Aid, said: “It is terrifying for a woman to be faced with bullying behavior from a footballer, where she is forced to sign an NDA and remove picture and message.” “It is abusive and unacceptable for footballers to use their power and financial status to legally intimidate women.”
This is not the first meeting of the footballer with the woman, as they will meet on other occasions. “We have to oppose controlling behavior in relationships. They are using the NDA as a tool to control. They have unlimited resources and are using them to silence women from speaking their truth.”
