Swedish Armand Duplantis (pol) and the American Sydney McLaughlin (400 meter hurdles) were selected as the best athletes of the year 2022 by World Athletics (WA)The international federation.
Duplantis, 23, broke his own world record three times to currently stand at 6.21 meters and won three major titles of the season: world gold in Eugene and European gold in Munich outer and inner world gold in Belgrade.

For his part, McLaughlin, also 23, twice broke the 400-meter hurdles world record (51″41 and, most importantly, a memorable 50″68) and won two golds in Eugene’s world due to his individual victory he also added the title in the 4×400 meter relay.
