Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano said Friday that his players had a unique opportunity to shine and measure his level in the Club World Cup against teams that they had never faced with each other, where he was listed as the most important competition in club history.
“We are sure before the most important competition in our club’s history. He has a little life but the most important thing he has played,” said the press conference before opening the contest match, which will face him tomorrow, Saturday, with Al Ahly’s Egypt.
However, Mascherano regretted that he could not expect his entire squad for this match, for the casualties of defenses Jordi Alba and Gonzalo Luján, and recognized that he wanted to have new additions for the contest, where Inter Miami also shared a group in Porto and El Palmeiras.
“We talk about two months that we have clearly need to be reinforced,” said Argentine coach, who said that after the competition “each had to think about their responsibilities.”
