Schmidt: “They’re better”

Date:

Roger Schmidt, the coach of Benfica, did not warm to his team’s defeat against Inter Milan in Da Luz (0-2) in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League. “In a quick analysis, they were better than us. In a few chances they scored two goals for us, we had both and we couldn’t score. That was the story of the game”, lamented the German coach.

“In Italy we have to win. The difference of two goals is not the best but we have to believe in it. The game was balanced, we put more pressure in the second and they scored against us. It is not easy to create chances against in this team, very well organized and defending with many players”, said the Benfica coach, criticizing the signaling of the penalty which meant 0-2.

“It was a bad decision by the referee, but we said that we did everything we could. In this competition all the teams are very good and effective and they managed to win in this way. Playing in Milan with two goal against match will not be easy because we have to attack and we will not concede goals,” he explained.
