The Kern Pharma group announced this Wednesday the addition of Mikel Nieve to its technical staff. Almost four months after his retirement as a professional cyclist, Navarrese will join his path to the pharmaceutical squad with the aim of contributing all the seniority gained throughout his years in the cycling elite.
“I live this union with great enthusiasm and desire. I find my new role in the Kern Pharma Team interesting, especially because we share ideas. It is a job that attracts me a lot”, acknowledges Mikel Nieve.

The new coach of the Kern Pharma Team will give the young team his valuable and great experience, and will try to be “the link between the performance areas, sports management and cyclists”, while also acting as sports director : “I will seek to understand the boys, to know how they are, what they feel and what they require from the directors. Part of preparing for a career and directing also motivates me”.
In his 15 seasons in the elite, the Navarrese achieved important victories in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Spain, among others, he participated in 22 great tours and stood out as a gregarious member of high-level WorldTour squads such as of what was then Team Sky or the Team Bike Exchange.
For all these reasons, Juanjo Oroz, general manager of the Kern Pharma Team, assures that the signing of Mikel Nieve is very good news: “Sharing illusions with him is very important.
