Eintracht will be left without one of its European heroes in the summer

The Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada He will leave Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of this season, when his contract expires, so he will leave as a free agent, the German club reported today.

bed He arrived at Eintracht in 2017 from Sagan Tosu. Part of the 2018/2019 season he was loaned to Belgian St.Truiden. Since then, he has played a total of 170 official matches, scoring 37 goals and providing 31 assists at Eintracht.

Kamada won the German Cup with Eintracht in 2018 and the Europa League in 2022 after eliminating FC Barcelona in the quarterfinals, though he didn’t score in either of the two games: 1-1 in Frankfurt and 2-3 at Camp Nou. During the tournament he found the goal five times and converted his penalty in the shootout that decided the final against Rangers at Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville (1-1 and 5-4).

This season, Kamada has 13 goals in 28 games, including three in as many consecutive Champions League group stage games (against Tottenham, Marseille and Sporting) which allowed Eintracht to advance to the round of 16, a tie in which they were eliminated against Napoli.

It rang for Barça

“We would have liked to continue having Daichi with us but the player has different interests. We thank him for his commitment to Eintracht and we wish him all the best for the future.” says sports director Markus Krösche. The fate of the 26-year-old player is still unknown. He has recently been linked with Barça, although there is no record of interest at the Camp Nou in bringing him on board.

Kamada participated the World Cup in Qatar and helped Japan win their group in first place, after defeating Spain and Germanybefore losing in the round of 16 to Croatia on penalties.
