The construction of the first phase of the new Real Betis Balompié Sports City, which will bear the name of Rafael Gordillo and cost 26.5 million euros (excluding VAT), should be completed by the end of next June. with the idea that the youth teams of the Verdiblanco club can already work here in the next preseason.
The first phase of the ambitious project includes the construction of eight 11-a-side football fields, three 7-a-side football fields, two goalkeeper training fields, a multidisciplinary building, a maintenance building, a pumping and raft building, changing rooms. , standing and car parking.
Betic councilor Ozgur Unay, a doctor of Civil Engineering, assessed the project and the state of works: “Everything is going according to plan, which is what we had in mind. We started in August last year and in July the Sports City He was there to conduct a preseason for the youth teams”.
This new sports city, located in the municipality of Dos Hermanas, will allow the Real Betis academy to take an exponential leap: “The leap is our departure from one and a half training camps for the rest of the academy which is not Betis Sports in nine or ten fields and also the residence, where we will go from 60 to 200 places. Once the first phase is completed, the global project will include the construction of an 8,000-seat minji stadium where Betis Deportivo will play, two specific soccer fields for the Foundation, a multipurpose sports building, a multi-purpose playing field and residences for athletes, although at the moment the priority is to finish the initial phase.
