Hertha Berlin, at the bottom of the Bundesliga after being defeated on Friday (5-2) by a Schalke that gave them a red lantern, sacked his coach Sandro Schwarz today and appointed Pal Dardai as his replacement until the end of the season, who takes up the position for the third time in his career in an attempt to prevent the historic German club from being relegated with six days left to play.
Hertha has 22 points, and is two behind Stuttgart, the team that will play in the playoff for permanent. Bochum, 15th and marking permanence, has 27 points after drawing today (1-1) with their visit to Union Berlin.
Hungarian Dardai is a Hertha legend as he played a large part of his career in their ranks as a defensive midfielder until his retirement (between 1997 and 2011) and holds the record for Bundesliga games in the club’s history (286).
Eventually Dardai led the Berlin team from the bench in two stages: between February 2015 to June 2019 and from January to November 2021.

Hertha barely achieved five wins in the Bundesliga and the last of them started on February 25 against Augsburg (2-0). Since then they have collected four losses and two draws.
Schwarz is the ninth coach to be sacked this season in the Bundesliga, two of them for Stuttgart, first to Pellegrino Matarazzo and later to Bruno Labbadia.
