Mallorca were reunited with victory with a goal from Amath Ndiaye

Date:

A goal from the Senegalese Amath Ndiaye in the 21st minute, he allowed Mallorca to breathe in the League and leave their losing streak of six games without a win, since December 6. The Balearic team needs to add to settle in the quiet place of table and did it at the expense of Celtic in Balaídos to almost seal the permanent. The Galician team launched into the match, without defeat in the last seven days and with a single KO in their stadium –against Atlético– in 2023, but they ran into the iron defense of those from Aguirre.

Celta came close to drawing with a shot from the Peruvian Renato Tapia hit the crossbar in the 81st minute, but Mallorca knew how to maintain their solid defense to hold on for 0-1 until the end.

Carlos Carvalhal preferred not to force carles perez after he did not join the team all week, and his position was taken by the young Miguel Rodríguez, whom he rewarded after his good minutes against Sevilla at Sánchez Pizjuán.

The first start of the squad player Miguel Rodríguez and the return of Gabri Veiga to the eleven were the main novelties in the line-up of Celta against a Mallorca that repeated the Uruguayan Manu Morlanes with Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta up front of the line of five defenders.

The vermilion team dominated their rivals and had two good chances as soon as the match started, both on the boot of Senegalese Amath Ndiaye. The player scored for the third time on 21′ after Iván Villar couldn’t join his central defenders. The first half was a very serious match for Aguirre’s men, who achieved their offensive goals, but above all, defensively, they knew how to cancel the locals. In fact, Celta settled permanently in the opposite field but did not generate a scoring opportunity. Yes, they have Mallorca, they are all in Amath’s boots.

The second half started with more initiative from Celtic in front of goal. At 50′, he entered carles perez and soon associated with Iago Aspas down the right side, but Valjent succeeds. The Galician team went all out in search of a draw.

In the 52nd minute, a point-blank header from Muriqi that went over the crossbar narrowly missed. In the 63′, a cross from Lucas de la Torre was cleared by Valjent. The Mallorca centrals kept all the aerial balls.

There was Renato Tapia with his boots one of the goals of the season but his shot hit the post on the clearest occasion for the locals in the 82nd minute.

Providencial is Valjent in 88′: Hugo Mallo’s cross looks for Larsen’s head, but the Slovak central defender bravely sticks his head in to steal the ball from the Celta striker. In the 93′, Hugo Mallo was sent off when the winger arrived late and committed a heavy foul Maffeo leading to expulsion. In the end, a balsamic victory for Mallorca, with its permanence all but tied up.

Mallorca ended a 16-year winless streak at Balaídos. Aguirre’s team already have 37 points with nine games remaining and Celta, with 36, remain just behind.
