In his traditional post-race summary for Honda Racing, team manager Alberto Puig acknowledged that the weekend had been positive for Honda after the two podium finishes achieved by Alex Rins from the ranks of the LCR Honda satellite team. After 24 dry races, from Misano-21 with Marc Márquez, a Honda pilot has not won a victory.
“If we look at the final result of the weekend and we have to make a judgement, there is no denying that it was a very positive weekend. A Honda motorcycle won the GP, this is the goal we set ourselves every weekend of the week. In the last few months our potential has been questioned, but today we showed that our bike has good potential”, admitted Puig.
“We really appreciated the efforts of Alex Rins during the GP, his drive, his concentration and his performance were what we needed. He showed that he is clearly a very fast driver, and we also have to remember and be happy with the development and the evolution of the bike we have in some races”, he stressed.
“The message proves that all the hard work from everyone in Japan and Europe is paying off. Everyone within HRC is giving their all to get back to the front, everyone from HRC Japan to the LCR team, going through Repsol Honda Team, they are working really hard with this single objective in mind. Today, thanks to the efforts of Alex Rins, we were able to get the reward of victory and show that we are still here, working and challenging.”
