Fernando Alonso referred to Lewis Hamilton and what he thinks of her in Azerbaijan F1 GP. In an interview with the newspaper ‘Marca’, he spoke in English when recalling the exchange of statements that took place between the two after his performance in Spa last year.
At the 2022 F1 Belgian GP, Fernando Alonso made heated comments on the radio after Hamilton caught him at the start of the Grand Prix when Fernando defended himself on the inside to get a better line at the Les Combes chicane. “Stupid! Closing the door from the outside! We had a big start but this man only knows how to drive if he is first,” Alonso exclaimed angrily.
“At least I know what you think of me. But it doesn’t matter much. We’ve had different results in our careers. Sorry? No. I was going to go until I heard what you said,” answered by Hamilton, who would later leave another message in Asturian on Instagram with a signed corra in which he wrote ‘for Fernando’. Finally, they both signed their peace with a photo that went viral, of Lewis giving her the same cap.
Now, months later, in the cold, Alonso refers to the English in ‘Marca’. “I have a lot of respect for him. After all, we have little overlap in our races in the same place. Maybe this year we will race and have similar cars, this part of the year. In Australia we were within a margin of two seconds the whole race and it was a very close fight…”, he commented.
“But yes, I think he is still one of the best in history, but at the same time he was lucky or knew how to ride in a dominant car for many years and when that happened, Schumacher won 7 titles, Lewis too. 7, Verstappen was going third, I won two. To be champion you need the best car.”added in relation to the number of crowns achieved by Hamilton.
