Frosinone, coached by former Italian player Fabio Grosso, became the first team to be promoted to Serie A this season after beating Reggina (3-1) on Monday.
Grosso, world champion with Italy in 2006 with a leading role in a tournament where he scored the decisive penalty in the final, has returned Frosinone to the top flight of Italian football after four years in Serie B.
The coach, a former player of Inter, Juventus or Lyon, arrived on the Frosinone bench in March 2021 and two and a half seasons later certified the promotion three days early.
This is Grosso’s first success as a coach after several experiences that did not end in the best way for the Italian.
He made his coaching debut at Bari in a solid first season in Serie B where he finished seventh, but in his subsequent seasons with Hellas Verona, Brescia and Swiss side Sion he ended up relegated from all of them. .
Now, with his first great success from the bench, he awaits the renewal of his contract, which expires at the end of June this year, so that he can make his debut in Serie A as a coach with the team he brought back to Italy’s highest category.
Frosinone will be the third team in the Lazio region (center) next season alongside Roma and Lazio.
