Clubs recover pre-Covid revenue

Date:

LaLiga hThe economic report for the 2021/22 season has been presented. A campaign in which professional football clubs left the crisis caused by Covid. That’s what this report confirms, which shows that LaLiga has almost regained pre-pandemic revenue levels.

So he isThe total revenue for the 2021/22 season reached 4,838.1 million euros, which represents a growth of 22.6% compared to the 2020/21 season. The return of the public to the stadiums has been decisive for this increase in revenue. In fact, of all total revenue, the greatest growth, with 123%, comes from the matchday concept, the return of the public and the increase in capacity. Commercial revenues also grew by 2.9%. Where LaLiga has not achieved pre-Covid numbers is in the transfer market.

Despite these good numbers, LaLiga’s consolidated net result was a loss of 140.1 million euros. Lower losses than last year and which are lower losses than other major European leagues. For example, the loss of the Premier and the Championship amounted to 1,005 million euros.

Regarding the total cost, Sports squad value continues to be the highest item with 47%, although the report reflects the clubs’ efforts to contain costs. This report also reflects that there has been “less activity in the player market and this is having an impact on the sale price for transfers,” said the LaLiga report.

The report also highlights that Net debt grew by 0.8% compared to last year and was at 2,102.4 million euros, including “mobilized resources related to the Impulse Plan, which is actually a 50-year subordinated debt of the clubs, that is, generally their own funds,” LaLiga’s report specified.

A report that also explains that the consolidated EBITDA of the competition, before and after the transfer results, are 23.9 million and 280.8 million euros, respectively. Figures far from pre-pandemic records. On the other hand, organic operating cash flow was positive again, specifically 104.3 million euros. In this sense, LaLiga explained in its report that these figures “do not take into account the hundreds of millions of income and the extraordinary financial resources obtained by Real Madrid and Barcelona as a result of their corporate asset monetization operations (ie, sale of rights futures )”, LaLiga’s report explained.

Employer predictions for the 2022/23 season, for now, is that revenue growth will continue and net profits will be registered again. Almost 5,000 million euros are expected to be repeated and LaLiga does not expect a loss for this season and projects a profit of 27 million euros.
