Five months after his severe injury to his right leg, Manuel Neuer, The Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain, today, at 37, expressed his delight at being back on the pitch as he enters the final stages of his recovery, although no date has been set for a return to competition.
On December 9, after a disastrous Mondial 2022 that ended with the elimination of the German team in the first stage for the second consecutive time in the tournament, Neuer broke the lower part of his right legwhile skiing on vacation.
In a video of about forty seconds published today on social networks, Bayern showed images of Neuer’s return to the grass of Säbener Strasse, the sports city, in individual training with specific exercises for goalkeeper with coach Michael Rechner.

“I am contented. We don’t set a calendar. I try to do everything, push the limits, make the most of it to progress and move forward as soon as possible”, explained Neuer.
After sustaining the injury and undergoing surgery, Neuer set himself the goal of being ready for the first phase of the pre-season Bayern, scheduled from July 15 to 20 in Tegernsee, about fifty kilometers south of Munich.
Under contract until June 30, 2024, Neuer hopes to play Euro 2024 with host Germany next summer, while at Bayern he will have to compete for ownership with the Swiss Yann Sommersigned to cover his absence.
