Australia will not send athletes to the Asian Games in China

Ang Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) will not send athletes to the next Hangzhou Asian Games (China)held from September 10 to 25, due to the re -emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Games were held less than 200 km southeast of Shanghai, where the population was confined for several weeks.

Organizers said they were putting together a plan to control the virus based on what was used at the last Winter Olympics in Beijing in February, but did not provide details on how it would be done, as China’s policy on the matter is very strict. .

Hangzhou, with a population of 12 million, will be China’s third city to host the Asian Games, after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.

Some events are held in other cities in the same province, such as Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing and Jinhua.

All 56 venues are ready for the Asian and Para-Asian Games, according to organizers.
