EL MIE Racing prevails in the premiere of the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup

Date:

The MIE Racing team consists of Sandra Gomez and Jorge Zaragoza achieved the first victory in the new electric era of All-Terrain which premiered last weekend at the emblematic Polea Camp, the historic location of the Bultaco family.

The 8 mixed teams, always consisting of one man and one woman, gave some amazing and emotional rides on their fully electric motorcycles. Finally, MIE Racing was the first team to win the FIM E-Xplorer, defeating the EM Factory Team 2-1.

The day started with the qualifying sessions that decided the matches in the final stage. Teams established their times by adding up the time of each of their pilots – when the first pilot completed the course, the hatch opened for the second to start.

The final stage did not disappoint anyone and from the quarterfinals, equality and emotion prevailed. The teams that qualified for the grand final were MIE and the EM Factory Team and gave a great show to the spectators present and to those who enjoyed it live via the FIM E-Xplorer TikTok. Sandra Gómez and Jorge Zaragoza gave victory to the Japanese team, defeating Marine Lemoine and Christophe Bruand in an exciting final, which was decided in the third round in favor of the two Spanish riders, Gómez and Zaragoza.

“I’m so happy, winning this first date is amazing. Both Jorge and I joined the championship at the last minute, but we made a great tandem together, getting along and setting up well at the beginning. My partner helped me go fast and I tried to give it my all today. We quickly adapted to the bike and we achieved a great result”, commented Sandra Gómez.

For his part, Jorge Zaragoza admitted that “when they offered me to compete in the FIM E-Xplorer I did not hesitate because I think this is the future. The team is very good and the bikes are competitive and I feel comfortable. I quickly adapted to the bike and I liked the track because it was more motocross style. I am very happy to have achieved this historic first victory in the championship.”

The third and fourth places were decided between PCR-e Performance and Fanatics, the team consisting of 2 riders selected through the contest held on the FIM E-Xplorer Instagram: Alex Gamboa and Tjasa Fifer, who finished in a creditable fourth place after losing to Chloe Richardson and Sam Winterburn.

The next appointment of the 5 that make up the new championship will be held on June 24 in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
