The sports director of Naples, Christian Giuntoliimprisoned Victor Osimhen in a hotel room to persuade him to sign for the Serie A team and reject a move to Liverpool in 2020. Giuntoli’s former collaborator, Giandomenico Costi, revealed the tactic he used to secure the services of Osimhen, who became one among the most coveted strikers in Europe.
The Nigerian striker joined Napoli from Lille and has scored 47 goals in 80 games, including 28 in all competitions this season. Behind the champion are clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
“Signing Osimhen was Giuntoli’s greatest masterpiece. Osimhen was locked up in a hotel for three days. Giuntoli knew that Liverpool were interested and that Jürgen Klopp had already moved, but Cristiano spoke to Osimhen at the hotel in for three days until he was convinced that he would accept Napoli”, Costi explained to ‘Tuttosport’. “Giuntoli is full of energy. He is a man who calls you 100 times a day. He knows Víctor very well, he even followed him to Charleroi,” he added.
