He Higher Sports Council (CSD) support the dream of Barcelona to bring the World Athletics Championship outside after the meeting between the CSD president, Jose Manuel Francothe Councilor for Sports Barcelona town hall, David Escudeand the president of Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), Raul Chapado.
“You have the support of the CSD and the Government of Spain to make Barcelona the venue for the World Athletics Championships a reality. There is no better venue,” Franco tweeted.
“Working towards a common goal: celebrating the World Athletics Championships in Barcelona. Now with my friend and partner
José Manuel Franco, president of the Higher Sports Council, and Raúl Chapado, president of the RFEA, to make this dream a reality”, wrote Escudé, one of the great promoters of this initiative.
In this meeting, the parties involved continue to work with the same goal to develop a formal candidacy in the future, perhaps for 2027 or 2029, since the next two World Cups have already been awarded to Budapest’2023 and Tokyo’2025.
