The German Alexander Zverevthird seeded, debuted this Tuesday, directly in round of 16in the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva (Switzerland) and did so with a two-set victory over the American Christopher Eubanks.
Zverev, who was in Geneva with an invitation from the organizers and after falling in the third round of the Masters 1,000 in Rome against the eventual champion, Russian Daniil Medvedev, defeated Eubanks by 6-2 and 6-3.
The German, number 27 in the world, is the first quarter-finalist in Geneva and will look to reach the semifinals against the winner of tonight’s match between China’s Wu Yibing and Italy’s Marco Cecchinato.
The Dutchman made it past the first round and earned a spot in the round of 16 Tallon Griekspoorin his case at the expense of the Italian from the previous Stefano Travaglia, by 7-5 and 7-6 (3).
The Argentine was eliminated in the first round Guido Pellain the hands of the Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-4 and 7-5), and the Bolivian Hugo Dellienlost to American JJ Wolf (6-4 and 6-2).
