Jorge Campillo (63), first leader of the KLM Open thanks to 10 birdies

The Spanish Jorge Campillo Thursday’s game is embroidered on Bernardus Golf de Cromvoirt (Netherlands) and, with a round of 63 strokes (9 under par), the best of his career, he stands as the sole leader of KLM is openmarking for DP World Tour.

The 36-year-old from Cáceres and winner of three titles on the circuit – the last of them this year in Kenya Open– signed a fantastic round with up to ten birdies -four in a row from holes 11 to 14- for a bogey.

At the end of the first day, Campillo, long awaited as the provisional home-club leader, alone leads the standings with a three-stroke advantage over the trio of players consisting of the Spanish player. Pablo Larrazabal, winner at the end of April of the Korea Championship; Englishman Andy Sullivan and Frenchman Joël Stalter.

“I played very solid, I hit very well, I accept the driver hit and I played well in the irons. If I only made one bogey it was because I didn’t do well on the greens” , said Campillo .

At four and tied for fifth place there is a large group of seven players, including two more Spaniards: Adrian Otaegui and Alex Del Reywith two rounds of 67 strokes (-5).
