Date:

Marc Turwinner of the Olympic diploma at the Tokyo Games for his fourth place in the 50-kilometer walk, assured EFE that the goal for this year is “from finalist to medalist” in one of the two major international competitions that there is this season.

Marc Tur won the European Cup walk in 2021 in Podebrady (Czech Republic) and won an important diploma in the 50 km walk at the Tokyo Games with fourth place in the event held in Sapporo. Those two great records allowed him to be awarded the Best Athlete of 2021 award by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

This season, there are two main goals. In July the World Cup in Eugene (United States) and in August the European Championship in Munich (Germany).

“I was at the moment of really starting to train. From the Games until now I have made an adaptation to the new distance, 35 kilometers, and we are in an important moment of the season with a lot of competitions, which will serve to put me. More stronger and faster, which is probably my weakest point, ”Marc Tur told EFE, after attending the presentation of the Gran Premio Madrid Marcha LaLiga to be held on May 16.

“Having 35 kilometers at the end of July and a few weeks later another 35 is a challenge and I hope I get well. Doing these weeks of training well I think I will get to the best ones. conditions for both competitions, “he said.

Last year, in Sapporo, Marc Tur was one step away from going to the podium at the Games. He lost the bronze in the last 150 meters to Canadian Evan Dunfee, who overtook him in that last half.

“What happened at the Games will be unforgettable in my life. I reviewed it a thousand times, what I did and what could happen. Now my hope and my goal is to take the step from finalist to the world medalist. and European level It’s hard, but I think I’m on the right track and I hope the dream come true, “he admitted.

At that event in Japan, he was joined by Jesús Ángel García Bragado, a living world walking legend, world champion in 1993 and the world athlete with the most Olympic participation (eight).

“Comparing myself to García Bragado is to make it to the top of the gear. He’s a benchmark, he takes us more than anyone and it’s a pleasure to share the final competition with him. He taught me a lot of things over the years and hopefully I’ll reach half of what he got, ”he concludes.
