The Juan Antonio Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum in Montjuïc hosted this Wednesday the presentation of the book: ‘Barcelona, Paco Godia and the machine. A city and a pilot, united by a common desire.’
The event included a round table and the inauguration of the traveling exhibition with the same name, ‘Barcelona, Paco Godia and the machine. A city and a driver, united by a common passion’, and served to pay tribute to the figure of Francisco Godia, a legend of Catalan motor racing.
The event opened Maria Teresa Samaranch Salisachsmember of the board of trustees of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation. Then they took the floor Liliana Godia Guardiolason of Francisco Godia and President of the Francisco Godia Foundation; Joseph MateuRACC President; and David EscudePresident of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and Councilor of Sports of the Barcelona City Council.
The highlight of the day was the round table, coordinated by Josep Autet, rally co-driver and founder of JAS Info Service, with the participation of Valentí Fradera, book author and expert on the history of motorsports, and Luis Pérez-Salaformer Formula 1 driver.
A very emotional event, with the presence of friends of the Godia family, with them Joaquín Folch-Rusiñoldriver of historic cars and collector, and Salvador Canellashistorical pilot on two and four wheels.
The author of the book, Valentí Fradera (Barcelona, 1969), is a motorcycle enthusiast and a student of the history of motorsports. He was part of the editorial team of F1 Racing magazine until 2011. Since then, he has collaborated with L’Esportiu and other specialized publications such as TodoRacing, Motor Clásico, Automóvil and La Revista del RACC.
