The official candidate has prevailed over Gorka Urtaran in three of the four batzokis of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the ones with the most members in the area.
The Regional Deputy for Equality, Basque Country and Governance, Jon Berriozabalis close to gaining the necessary support to be elected president of PNV’s Araba Buru Batzar (ABB).
On October 17, the Jeltza formation began its long internal process – lasting almost six months – with which it territorial assembliesthe National Assembly, as well as the eight members of the EBB and its president. The Yeltzal bases will also debate and establish their positions political line for the coming years.
Today the meeting took place in the four batzokis of Vitoria-Gasteiz, where the second and final round of voting for the presidency of ABB took place.
As the EITB has learned, Berriozabal won three of these local assemblies, while the other candidate, the former mayor Gorka Urtaranin one.
In this way, the official candidate has received the support of 27 assemblies so far, and Urtaran has won in 13 assemblies. According to the established bases, whoever gains the support of 32 assemblies will win the race.
In Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa it appears to be clearer who will almost certainly take over the leadership of the party. In Bizkaia has the former president of the Basque Energy entity Inigo Ansolahas won in almost all municipal assemblies and in Gipuzkoa, Maria Eugenia Arrizabalaga receives majority support.
