Gentleman, on the other hand, more – Austrians trust Van der Bellen less

Date:

Austrians trust the institutions of the republic. This has now emerged from a survey among selected voters. The Bundeswehr is at the top, but commander-in-chief Alexander Van der Bellen has lost points compared to last year.

Overall, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces is roughly in the middle. The Austrian army itself was able to make significant gains, probably due to foreign policy crises and storms. The Ombudsman Service, the police, technical colleges and the Chamber of Labor also enjoy great confidence. The universities, the Constitutional Court, the Court of Audit, the Austrian Statistical Office and the judiciary also have good values.

In any case, the newly elected parliament and the chambers of agriculture and economics are still in positive territory.

Here you can view the results in detail.

No trust in the EU and social media
Things look worse for the EU, banks and insurance companies. Social media is at the very bottom, ahead of the Catholic Church. The survey examined how public trust in the republic’s institutions has changed since September 2023.

The first response came from Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP), who referred to the “tireless” efforts of soldiers abroad and during the flood disaster. The commitment was worth it considering the trust placed in her.

The trust index is collected once a year by the OGM Institute. This time, 1,068 representatively selected Austrians aged 16 and over were interviewed. The maximum fluctuation range is three percent. It could also be indicated that they were not familiar with a facility.
