Iraia Iturregi made several statements on Athletic’s own website with his impressions about the change of role as a coach he had to make within Lezama. Loiutarra, who has 402 official matches as a lion and extensive experience in various women’s benches at the club, said that “he has been thinking about this decision for a long time. I have been with the crowd for four years of the current squad, we have rejuvenated the team a lot and I think it’s time to step aside”
Iraia assured that “as soon as I informed the club of my decision, they conveyed to me the request that I continue as a coach within Lezama, in this case in the men’s structure, and they suggested that I join the technical Basconia staff. This is a challenge that motivates me. I believe in the project, I believe in the work being done in Lezama and I will give everything in my power to help train the players”.
Loiutarra added that “I am optimistic about the future of the women’s first team, there are many young talents in the group who have gained experience this year and this team will give us a lot of joy.”
