Max Verstappen started in first position in the Spanish F1 GP with everything in his favour. The best car with some big hands, in a layout that fits his car like a glove. But Carlos Sainz, who started 2nddespite knowing that his car had a worse rhythm, he tried it on turn 1. The public vibrated as the Spaniard put the car into the reigning champion, who showed his class with a good defense to continue in the lead.

Max started on medium rubber, while the rest of the rivals did it on soft. The Dutchman came out a little worse than Carlos, who wanted to beat him up inside. Max knew this, closing in to force Sainz out of turn one. Carlos tried to extend the braking, but at that point, it was too complicated on the outside and Verstappen kept the position.
behind him, Lando Norris had a problem and had to pit. That position, along with the one he won from Hülkenberg in the first meters, were won by Fernando Alonso, who went from 8th to 6th to begin his comeback. He said on Saturday that he was aiming for 2nd and his two mistakes in qualifying cost him a good chance at the podium. I will try now by attacking. I thought I had a rhythm for it. And in doubt not knowing if the rain will come to reverse the race.
Pérez, who started 11th, took just 6 laps to reach eighth place, just behind Alonso, who had a better car than the man from Oviedo.
