Russia is now using classified technology for floating nuclear power plants to lure allies into the war against Ukraine.
As alarms about the Russian-occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant mount – the power outage makes a catastrophe in the reactor increasingly likely – Putin is now pulling the nuclear strings on a whole other level! Because the state nuclear company Rosatom lures friendly, but also less friendly states with a special kind of nuclear technology.
Promise: “Crisis-resistant energy supply”
The Russians promise “a crisis-resistant energy supply 24 hours a day, even in the loneliest regions of the world”. The starting point of this “bribery offensive” is the arctic and northernmost Russian city of Pevek in the Chukotka region. There the “Akademik Lomonosov” (named after a Russian scientist) is anchored and a complete nuclear power plant is buzzing on board.
The advanced hull technology of nuclear-powered icebreakers is used. Huge energy capacity over the lifetime of the marine reactor: up to 194.1 million kWh!
Significant global development: The Middle Kingdom stopped the already fully built floating nuclear reactors off the islands of the South China Sea – for security reasons.
