Rodrimidfielder of City of Manchester, says he is playing his best football as his team look for a historic Treble ahead of the Champions League final against Inter Milan, to be played next Saturday. The footballer (26) and his teammates could achieve sporting immortality in Istanbul, where City could be crowned European champions for the first time and equal Manchester United’s treble in 1998-99.
Rodri joined City in 2019 from Atlético Madrid in a deal worth around 50 million pounds ($62.1 million) and has won three top-flight titles. “I feel at my best, physically, mentally, the way I understand the game,” he told reporters after defeating United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
“I’ve tried to grow and learn. This is my fourth year and there have been many lessons. I feel more mature. But you have to win. It’s not just about playing well, it’s about being part of a winning team.” Rodri said City “tried to learn a lot from the past” after coming close to European glory in recent seasons.
City participated in the 2020-21 Champions League final, where they lost 1-0 to Chelsea in Porto. But they are now favorites to beat Inter after winning their fifth Premier League title in six seasons last month. “Pep said, you won’t be ‘big, big’ if you don’t win in Europe. An exam we must pass again,” added Rodri.
“It’s another final and we’re ready. I’m going to push the guys to be ourselves, be confident, do everything possible and fight for the final,” he says.
