Protesters attacked the headquarters of the Paris’24 Organizing Committee

Date:

Some sixty CGT militants briefly occupied the headquarters of Organizing Committee of Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris (COJO) at noon on Tuesday, within the framework of the national day of action against pension reform.

“Several dozen CGT militants entered the headquarters within minutes to display banners against the pension reform. This action was carried out without violence or injury,” said a spokesman for COJO based in Saint-Denis.

In one video, militants from the CGT’s RATP can be seen brandishing torches and displaying a banner in the building’s atrium, chanting “no withdrawal, no Olympics.” Calls to call off the Games emerged on social media amid protests against pension reform, which raised the legal retirement age to 64.

The Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture counted about sixty demonstrators and noted that the OCOG intended to file a complaint for minor damage: forced doors, smoke stains, etc.

Last April, in response to calls to stop the Olympic Games, CFDT leader Laurent Berger declared that he was against any demonstration.
