The toy company FAMOSA presented this Tuesday a special edition of Nancy wearing the kit of the Spanish soccer team in support of women’s soccer and the players who will play next month in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“Nancy brings the truth closer to children. We can convey the message to them and thus make it normal. The message behind it is that it’s not just boys who play soccer. We all play. If girls don’t see that girls play soccer too. , when they are old they won’t see it anymore, and they won’t dream about it either,” he explained. Irene Sotillo, Iberia Marketing Director of FAMOSA.
Priscilla Borgia, a former soccer player for Atlético de Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, among other clubs, assured: “Women’s football is moving forward. Toys and books should be included. This is a way of giving the girl an opportunity to do so. At my age, I was referring to nothing but a girl playing kitchen or broom. Things like this help us.”
Natalia Flores The Director of Women and Sports at the Higher Sports Council (CSD), spoke about the differences between women’s and men’s football: “I want to have the same resources as them. Have the displacements, the schedules, the minimum. Soccer players are not asking for a big salary, just an improvement in conditions,” he added.
The launch of the doll, in addition to supporting the Spanish Women’s Soccer Team, which will play in the World Cup in Australia this summer, aims to promote the values of gender equality in sport to children through play.
