Philippe Diallowho temporarily serves as president of French Football Federation (FFF) after removing his predecessor in January, Noël Le Graëtwho is involved in the sexual harassment scandal, will remain in office until 2024 thanks to this Saturday’s vote of the general assembly.
The fff explained in a statement that Diallowho became the right hand of Le Graet from December 2021 before he was replaced on an interim basis in January, he was elected president with the support of 91.26% of the delegates.
In a first statement upon being elected, he wanted to pay tribute to the team with which he had worked in recent months. “We have experienced a certain number of difficulties. This team knows how to keep the federation running, worked on projects and prepared the future,” he asserted.
Looking to the future, he asserted his desire to continue “what started Noël Le Graët in March 2021 and go further to modernize our federation.”
The former president was relieved of his responsibilities on January 11 due to intense pressure on him. The trigger then was an interview on a radio station where he sneered Zinedine Zidane.
But before that, its continuation was compromised by an inspection report commissioned by the Ministry of Sports on the management of fff where a “sexist and violent environment” was denounced, as well as other “dysfunctions”.
The authors of the report blamed Le Graet that the situation will worsen and for this reason they consider that he does not have the “necessary legitimacy to manage and represent French football”, among other things due to “a problematic attitude” towards women that “can be described as sexist at least” .
