the slovenian Tadej Pogacar response of the leader of Tourthe danish Jonas Vingegaardwho stated that the stages coming in the French round were better for him and ensured that he improved a lot in the long days and in the heat.

A day after defeating the Dane in climbing the Puy de Domeand cut the difference between two to 17 seconds, the Slovenian showed his optimism on the first day of rest, against his great rival who ensured that the remaining stages were more suited to his characteristics.

“We’ll see in the Alps. I also like those stages, I’ve met them and I know the route. Every year I improve in the long climbs and in the heat. I’m waiting to see who is better in the conditions that, ” said the cyclist of U.A.E.

Pogacar said he was surprised to lose time on the first day in the Pyrenees, because even though he was underprepared for the Tour due to his wrist injury, he felt better.

The Slovenian was pleased with the response he gave to the different attacking tactics of his rival and the Jumbo team.

“I try to anticipate them, to adapt every day. The truth is that he is having a beautiful rivalry with Jonas. Last year was already one of the most beautiful Tour in history and this year a lot happened in the first week. We lived in a good weather for cycling,” he said.

Pogacar assured that he will try to run intelligently, after last year he was too ambitious.

“It’s nice to win the single attack at 50 kilometers, but this is the Tour, you have to endure for three weeks and every day you pay for the efforts of the previous day. You have to use your head,” he said.
