Defender Josko Gvardiol will miss the Croatian squad for the Nations League Final Four due to an abdominal wall injury, the Croatian Football Federation has announced.
The 21-year-old Leipzig defender will not arrive in time for next Wednesday’s semi-final match against hosts the Netherlands in Rotterdam.
“Josko Guardiol will miss the final stage of the Nations League due to an abdominal wall injury. Despite the efforts and intensive treatment to which he underwent, the player would not be ready to compete in the Final Four. We wish him well,” the Croatian federation said.
The injury represents a serious setback for the team Zlatko Dalic, third in the 2022 World Cup. The Leipzig defender is one of the fixtures in his team and one of the best footballers in Qatar.
