Date:

the dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), which two weeks ago strengthened its leadership in the Formula One World Championship by adding its fifth victory of the year at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, declared, with the aim of Canadian Grand Prixnext weekend, that is “I hope I can repeat last year’s success” at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

“It’s always good to be back in Montreal; it’s a great city and the fans are great there. The track is also very special, because you drive on old-school curbs and the atmosphere is also very cold”, commented ‘Mad Max’, 25, who after winning in Barcelona is clearly aiming for his third title in a row and leads the World Cup with 170 points, 53 more than his teammate, the Mexican Sergio Pérez, and with a 71 advantage over the Spanish double world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who, at the age of 41, has been feeling good in start of the season.

“The car setup has to find the right balance between top speed on straight roads and the ability to cross curves without problems”commented Verstappen, who in Montmeló signed his fortieth victory in F1 two Sundays ago, one of them -that last season- in Canada with a goal of the eighth World Cup Grand Prix.

“Of course I have in mind my success last year; so I hope we can achieve something similar this year“, commented the leader of the championship with a goal of the eighth Grand Prix of the World Cup.
