New chapter of the fight between Arbolino and Acosta at the Sachsenring

Date:

Tony Arbolino (Kalex) and Pedro Acosta (Kalex) are focused on the battle for the lead in Moto2 ahead of this weekend’s clash at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring circuit, where Spaniard Daniel Holgado (KTM) arrived as Moto3 leader and with a wider advantage, honoring his surname.

Pedro Acosta’s victory at the Mugello Tuscan track allowed him to cut the lead by five points where the current leader, Tony Arbolino, leads the points table, showing no signs of weakness, because of the “home” race, he managed to finish second, but logic suggests that at the Sachsenring the number of rivals can and should grow exponentially.

And it is because the Spanish Alonso López (Boscoscuro), the Czech Filip Salac, the Spanish Arón Canet (Kalex), the British Jake Dixon (Kalex) and Sam Lowes (Kalex), the Thai Somkiat Chantra (Kalex) or the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex) gave more than clear signs of being in a position to fight for victory in every grand prix.

The most complex of them all may be Arón Canetwho starred in a brilliant “pole position” at Mugello, but in the next lap he crashed unfortunately he suffered a small open fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his right hand.

That injury affected his performance in Italy and, despite it, he managed to finish in a more than creditable fourth place, so the Corbera driver could certainly have opted for a better result at the Sachsenring, although it wasn’t to be easily against competition from the highest level.

Both Arbolino and Acosta seem to be the fittest riders in the intermediate categorybut it cannot be denied that any of its rivals hit the set-up on a track so short and winding and where the ability of the drivers can make the difference.

If the list of candidates for victory in each grand prix is extensive, it is no less than Moto3although the three victories of the Spaniard Daniel Holgado gave him a huge advantage of 35 points over his nearest rival.

Holgado knows how to wait for the right moment at Mugello to attack his rivals to achieve the second victory in a row, despite the fact that almost all the weight of that race is carried by the Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), who continues to search, so far without success, for his first victory.

Although Daniel Holgado is the solid leader of Moto3, around him there is a real “pack” of rivals with the possibility of aiming for success and the main names are, in addition to Öncü, the Spaniards Jaume Masiá (Honda), Iván Ortolá (KTM), David Muñoz, Xavier Artigas (CFMoto) or José Antonio Rueda (KTM) , the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda), Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM) and Kaito Toba (KTM), the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (KTM), the Colombian of Spanish origin David Salvador (GasGas ) or the Italian Stefano Nepa (KTM) .

Among them, David Muñoz is one of the doubts, as he will not be able to compete in the Mugello race due to injury. the Spaniard also replaced Vicente Pérez and, at the Sachsenring, if he attends, the performance the Andalusian pilot can show after recovering from his injury will be a question mark.
