A Dutch runner died this Sunday after participating in Half marathon performed on Lisbon and that ended in Kenyan victory Kenneth Kiprop Renju and the Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu Beyan.
“The Club de Portugal Marathon received with great sadness the news of the death of an athlete of Dutch nationality after the completion of the Lisbon Half Marathon,” the organization reported.
In addition, according to local media, medical services are treating another runner who is in severe but stable condition affected by the extreme heat that Lisbon has now registered.
More than 28,000 people took part in the competition, culminating in the victory of Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu Beyan -who already won in 2021- in the women’s event, and Kenyan Renju in the men’s category.
