English Lewis hamilton (Mercedes), seven-time Formula One world champion, marking the best time this Friday in free practice for the Canadian Grand Prixeighth in the World Cup, said at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal that he said “the improvement of the car already seen in Monaco and Barcelona” and that he “loves the rain”, which weather forecasts indicate will almost certainly fall during qualifying this Saturday.
“It was a strange day, because of the problems that happened during the first practice (which only lasted five minutes, as a result of the security cameras being broken). I feel bad for all the fans there, because the crowd has been amazing since yesterday; and the city is full”, explains Hamilton, 38, who, apart from the number of titles -which he shares with German Michael Schumacher-, also has historical records for victories and pole positions in Formula One: 103, in both cases .
“I’m happy though, at least we got out of there shooting and it was nice to have an hour and a half session.something that hasn’t happened for a long time”, commented Sir Lewis, who, after finishing second in the Spanish Grand Prix two Sundays ago, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, is fourth in the World Championship, with 87 points: 83 more lower than the leader, Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
“I love driving here. ‘Mega’. From the moment you leave the ‘pit lane’ you think ‘yes, it has this track’. However, this is the heaviest circuit we’ve been on in a long time. Although I think it’s all the same, fighting in the pits,” said the amazing and eccentric champion in Stevenage.
“In general terms, the car does not feel bad; But clearly we have work to do. We just need to improve our ride control and balance in the corners, and I think we will be ‘ok’,” he said.
“In general terms, the car has improved compared to the beginning of the season; and I think I’m noticing that improvement that has already been seen in Monaco and Barcelona. I love the rain, so let’s try and have fun tomorrow,” Hamilton said Friday in Canada, where only the ‘Kaiser’ equaled his six wins.
