Calleja: “It’s not a party, it’s a party”

The Levante coach, Javi Calleja, assured this Friday that Saturday’s clash against Deportivo Alavés, which corresponds to the second leg of the promotion play-off in the First Division final, will be “the game” and recalled that they will come out “to win” despite the fact that the tie also helps them climb.

“A whole season in one game. It’s not a party, it’s the party and we know it. But we want to enjoy it and savor it because you rarely get to play a game of this importance”, he said at the press conference before Saturday’s clash at the Ciutat de València.

“After everything we’ve been through, playing everything at home, in front of your fans and the moment it comes for the club and for the fans and everything we feel, for me it’s the most important game of my career and I want to finish with joy, with that promotion and this is what I have in mind and what we will leave in our souls”, added the coach of Madrid.

Regarding the match, Calleja commented: “We will go out to win. This is the best way to get promoted and know that two out of three results are worth it to us. The pressure is on both teams, not only for Levante because the victory and the draw is worth it for us”.

The Levante coach admitted it was a long week because of the importance of the clash, but explained that he tried to maintain the routine of the whole season and release the tension from the players.

“A lot of enthusiasm has been generated and there is a very positive atmosphere and we are trying to give it normality knowing that this is not just any week. This is the week that puts him on the stage that he wants and we have to figure out how to take it and don’t put more tension and pressure on ourselves than we already have,” he said.

“It’s everybody’s game and now the icing on the cake that we’ve all wanted since the season started is missing. There is a lot of effort and work behind it. What we want is to give the fans this promotion that they deserve so much”, he added.
