He is only 25 years old. But the world is in your hands. Max Verstappendouble world champion and current king of F1, is heading for his third title without a doubt. Max Verstappen won the Canadian F1 GP this Sunday, his sixth win in the first 8 World Cup races, all of them for one of the two Red Bulls, and he’s well ahead. The Dutchman also achieved a milestone he will never forget: he equaled his idol Ayrton Senna’s 41 f1 wins. Yes, in just 25 years. Max is unbeatable, that’s a fact, but if anything has become clear in Canada, it’s not the superiority he crushed in the previous Grand Prix. Verstappen never won by 30 seconds. This time, Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin gave a huge blow to the table and warned everyone that they will not be fooled. Alonso was 2nd, 9 seconds behind Max. They don’t have half a minute left. They are closer. And he would have been more had it not been for the battle with Hamilton, who was in 3rd ahead of Leclerc (4th) and Sainz (5th), who took a risk with strategy and got it right.

CANADA F1 GP 2023 RESULTS
CLASSIFICATION OF F1 WORLD CUP 2023
Great message of strength from Aston Martin
Aston Martin sent a clear message to Canada. For those who believe their car is just a copy of Red Bull and those in green don’t know how to evolve it during the course. For those, after the result of the Spanish GP, it was thought that Mercedes had surpassed Aston Martin by developing their car. For those who believe that Fernando Alonso will not choose 33 this year. Aston Martin silenced them all. He didn’t answer. They continued with their heads down, working without looking at their rivals, following their own plan. Alonso warned Barcelona that a big improvement is coming and they are back in front of Mercedes.
The evolutionary package, at first glance, makes clear the ambition of those in green. And in the first race, still unable to maximize the car’s settings with this new package, Aston Martin made a big step forward allowing Fernando to overtake Hamilton and close to Max. First important notice: The Aston Martin trend continues to rise. They keep getting better. They have been doing it for a year and a half. They want to arrive.
They’re still not up to the Max, but in Canada things are tighter. So Fernando Alonso, having pushed to the maximum, tracked and even surpassed Verstappen’s times.

Alonso and Hamilton, first battle
The race started in a complicated way for the Spaniard. He started 2nd behind Verstappen, with Hamilton in 3rd place and Russell in 4th. Lewis got out better and passed him in turn 1. And in turn 2, after the 7-time champion, Alonso found himself slowing and George almost took advantage to pass him on the outside. Alonso kept George parallel and with better braking in turn 3. He then began to attack Hamilton in the fight for the second position.

Alonso quickly stuck to the English DRS. And on lap 12, Russell’s hit with the wall brought out the ‘Safety Car’. Max, Hamilton and Alonso entered. Lewis made a worse stop and the Briton and the Spaniard almost touched each other in the pits in a controversial and uncertain start to prevent Fernando from passing him. Alonso had to lift his foot to avoid the crash. The FIA launched an investigation, but Fernando took the law into his own hands as he knew best: driving. He pushed Hamilton and passed him with a big hack at the final chicane. He started shooting then went for Verstappen. I was 2″. Max managed to open the gap to about 4 or 5 seconds. But no more.

Hamilton and a problem prevents Alonso from looking at Max
The Dutchman complained of a lack of grip on the hard tires and Alonso was equal or better than Max. I’m going to a track with a little degradation. But then, with Hamilton 3 seconds behind, came a crucial moment that changed the race. Hamilton stopped on lap 40 to launch an attack on Alonso. What should Fernando do? Outrun Hamilton or follow Max all the way? It was his turn to defend himself against the Englishman by stopping on the next lap. Of course, with the bad luck that I don’t have any set of new medium tires in the drawer, the tires that work best. Verstappen also replicated the strategy by stopping on the following lap, and was able to put on a new medium tyre. The dream of success is over.
From there, Alonso was told by radio that he needed to manage something, either the brakes or the fuel, and that he needed to use the ‘lift and coast’ technique, using greater inertia from the car in the curve. He had a problem with his car. Because of that, Alonso will lose tenths every lap and he won’t be able to attack Max. And Hamilton, behind, is a dangerous distance away. “Tell me when I can stop doing ‘lift and coast’. I want to win this race.”Alonso said on the radio. But it’s too late.

With 10 laps remaining, Alonso was 7”1 behind Max and Hamilton was 1”6, pushing everyone to try and get into second position from Fernando. But Alonso didn’t last long with another hit on the table: he stopped managing the brakes and set a devastating pace that Lewis couldn’t follow. Again, Fernando finished the race riding in the time of Verstappen, who put 4 tenths per lap on the Englishman, who could do nothing against Fernando.

“Great job, without that problem, Max…”, said his engineer to Alonso, who chose to cut off the sentence because he didn’t want to hear it. “I know, I know…”, Fernando pointed out. He knew he could have been closer to Max. it would have been difficult to win, but this time he was there. i can press Max is not in another world. Now it is necessary to see if what is seen in Canada is something specific or a trend.
Ferrari took risks and succeeded
Leclerc started 10th and Carlos Sainz started 11th after a classification to forget. They were looking for the Top-5, but the start of the race made it clear to Ferrari that to achieve this they had to risk or change. The start left Charles and Carlos fighting for the Top-10 in a small DRS train of slower cars that they couldn’t pass. They were surprised then when they were the only two cars not to stop in the ‘Safety Car’ on lap 12. They had medium rubber and they were comfortable with it. Ferrari took advantage of the low wear of the tires to push and they were right. With this strategy, those in red are betting on extending their first stop and going to a pit stop. This left Leclerc in 4th position and Sainz in 5th, positions in which they crossed the finish line.
The Spaniard, when he extended his first stop, asked the team to let Charles pass because he had more speed. But immediately after, Ferrari told Charles to pull some fresh air and that Carlos wouldn’t pass him. The two Ferraris raced together, making their own race and saving some good points for the team.
Albon, run
Pérez is 6th and Alonso is now just 9 points from his runner-up. And behind him, one of the people of the day: Alex Albon finished 7th with a Williams with great strategy, great courage and speed. A run for the Thai ahead of Ocon (8th), Stroll (9th) and Bottas (10th), closing the points zone. Piastri was 11th to Gasly 12th and Norris 13th. Russell and Sargeant came down.
