On the occasion of the races with the biggest impact on the world cycling calendar, the Tour de France (July 1-23) and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift (July 23-30), The Movistar Team, Gobik and Telefónica have joined forces to launch a new clothing collection, under the name ‘Iceberg’, which will be worn by the 15 cyclists who will take part in the great French round starting in Bilbao and Clermont-Ferrand.
The ‘Iceberg’ kit pursues four objectives: improving the technical performance of the garments; the preservation of the fabrics used in its manufacture; the presentation of the Movistar Team with an innovative and different design in the great ‘showcase’ of the 2023 season; and social awareness for the preservation of seas and oceans.
Incorporates a mostly white color on his jersey, with a blue pattern dominating the main design of the team, and adding white seams to the shorts, the ‘Iceberg’ represents the ice blocks of the oceans, threatened by the current climate emergency, which the Movistar Team, Gobik and Telefónica are trying to raise awareness of this campaign.
Garments in the ‘Iceberg’ collection have at least 60% fabric from fibers made from recycled plastics (bottles, fishing nets, overproduction). So it will be the most sustainable kit worn by a team on the Tour. The ‘Iceberg’ collection is part of the ‘Ride to Cut’ project promoted by Gobik.
The garments, which aim to reflect warmth, improve protection against ultraviolet rays and improve visibility on the road (for competitors and novice users), are made at the Gobik production center in Yecla (Murcia) , which pursues the least social, environmental and economic Impact.
The jerseys worn by the Movistar Team will be signed and auctioned to contribute to international funds and programs. The team invites fans to add their contributions to these campaigns. Details about the auction and methods of contribution will be announced in the days before the start of the Tour.
