Alex Palou, new head of IndyCar, warned his rivals

Date:

Alex Palou added his third victory in the last four IndyCar races on Sundaythe second in a row, and now there is 74 points ahead of 2nd overall Marcus Ericsson, 81 over Newgarden and 98 over O’Ward and Dixon. However, he prefers not to think that the title is in his hands: “Zero percent!. It’s IndyCar and you don’t know.”

In this sense, the 26-year-old driver from Sant Antoni de Vilamajor (Barcelona) is committed to continuing step by step, race by race, only thinking about winning and not taking the calculator or settling for any result. You don’t want to skimp on thinking about the title.

“I can understand the racer thinking about the points in the last two races, but it’s too early. We did eight races. There are nine more to go. That means someone else will score the same number of points we did, or more, in the races we have left.” the new IndyCar dominator, champion of the highest American single-seater event in 2021, argued that this course is looking for his second scepter with Chip Ganassi.

Palou wants to keep winning. “We are going to concentrate on scoring victories, because that way we can add more points. That’s the best way.”

In the first eight races of the course, Palou’s average position is impressive in a competition with such mechanical parity, as he has an average position of 3.5, with great consistency. He wants to continue on that path in future races, where he warns that his car will be there to continue fighting for wins: “There are some races coming up that are still really good for us and we know we will have the car and my confidence to fight for wins.”
