This Tuesday the Council of Ministers approved the series of Commitments that the Government will assume if Spain is appointed as the venue for the Ryder Cup in 2031where Catalonia will be the host region.
These promises aim to ensure the success and smooth organization of this prestigious sporting event and show the Spanish Government’s firm commitment to the “Costa Brava – Barcelona 2031” bid to host the Ryder Cup.
It is the most important team golf competition in the world, a tournament that generates a lot of media interest and attracts visitors, who benefit the host country in terms of sports, tourism and economics.
The Government will guarantee, among other things, the participation of the players, will provide the necessary visas and authorizations and provide excellent transport infrastructure during the Ryder Cup 2031 celebrations.
Within the framework of this commitment, it is also contemplated to provide all the necessary means to guarantee a safe and peaceful development of the event and the promotion of golf in Spain is guaranteed for seven years before and five years after of the event.
Furthermore, the Government is undertaking to advance procedures to declare the Ryder Cup 2031 an event of exceptional public interest and to guarantee the celebration of contests related to the event.
In this sense, the Council of Ministers authorized the President of the Higher Sports Council to sign the necessary agreements on behalf of the Government of Spain to comply with the commitments arising from the designation of Spain as the venue for the 2031 Ryder Cup.
These commitments, to be financed within the current budget without increasing public spending, they are proposed by twelve Ministries: Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; Treasury and Public Functions; Within; Transportation, Mobility and the Urban Agenda; Work and Social Economy; Industry, Commerce and Tourism; Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory; Land Policy; Culture and Sports; Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation; Health; Integration, Social Security and Migration.
